WEDDING IN ITALIAN ALPS

TRENTINO ALTO ADIGE AND VALLE D’AOSTA

A fascinating part of the country, Trentino Alto Adige is a wonderful place to Wedding in Italy.

Formerly belonging to Austria, Alto Adige was handed over to Italy in the early 20th century and is now a bilingual region with a pervasive Austrian influence.

Celebrating your wedding in Trentino Alto Adige is the perfect way to discover more of this unique blend of cultures. The regional capital is Bolzano, in the south, at the meeting point of the Isarco and Talvera rivers. This friendly, relaxed town is a good base from which to explore the nearby mountains. Bolzano has some lovely, typically Italian pavement cafés, and the local wine is highly recommended, particularly the Chardonnay.

North of Bolzano is the Alpe di Siusi area, which includes Europe’s largest Alpine plateau, the Hauenstein forest, unspoiled woods, wetlands, valleys and mountains. Wonderful views extend in every direction; any of these could be a stunning  backdrops to your Wedding in Italy.

More superb scenery surrounds the spa town of Merano, sheltered by mountains. Merano is a great place, with many paths and gardens that are perfect for walks. There is also a Thermal Center in the town, offering water cures, plus lots of shopping opportunities, a Gothic cathedral and a 15th century castle.

Two mountain ranges are located close to Merano and Ortles . The former is entirely contained within the Stelvio National Park. This park features a dizzyingly high Alpine pass, a huge glacier, valleys, walking trails and a great variety of wildlife, including deer, elk and golden eagles.

Skiing is popular in many parts of Trentino Alto Adige, not least at Cortina d’Ampezzo, site of the 1956 Winter Olympics. Now a prestigious ski resort, the town also offers a range of excellent restaurants and bars, plus chic designer shops. Its setting is immeasurably beautiful, surrounded by a circle of mountains.

This region, in the north of the country, is where Austrian and Italian cultures meet and intermingle. It is a lovely part of Italy, and your wedding in Trentino Alto Adige is a chance to experience all of this for yourself.

val d'aosta wedding

Valle D’ Aosta is the smallest region in Italy. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing environment far from the crowd to celebrate your Wedding in Italy, this is your place!

Valle D’Aosta is strategically positioned on either bank of the Dora Baltea River, and it controls access to the Great St. Bernard and Little St. Bernard passes, which have been vital European crossroads since Roman times.

Sheltered by the soaring peaks of Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn and a dozen other giants, Valle D’Aosta has a milder, sunnier climate than the resorts on the other side of the Alps. It is also the perfect location if you like trekking and the mountain landscapes. Another valid reason to Wedding in Valle D’Aosta!
